Files 1957-1987; 1973-1985.

The records were collected by Morris A. Sorenson, Jr., and Mark W. Thomsen, directors of the Division for World Mission and Inter-Church Cooperation of The American Lutheran Church, and by Duane A. Olson and Jack F. Reents, the area secretaries who oversaw the administration of mission work in Papua New Guinea. The files are primarily subject files. Sometimes the only thing that distinguishes these files from the general subject files of the directors and area secretaries was the fact that the person responsible for maintaining the files had included the term ELC-PNG preceding the file title. The records contain an organization chart, constitution, correspondence of various departments, committees, and service agencies of the church, and reports of work and plans. There are several files in Box 2 that record the working relationship between the ELC-PNG and the LMNG.
